Simple steps to improve your web presence include...
1. Print your web address wherever your company name and logo appear. Stationery, brochures, vehicles, signs, company uniforms & apparel, invoices, product packaging, advertising, etc. If you are reluctant to print all new materials, invest in a rubber stamp or labels with your web address on them. Create inserts that go out with your invoices or other correspondence. Whenever, and wherever you advertise, including print, television, radio, and direct mail pieces, be sure to include your web site address. Any means that will bring traffic to your web site is a benefit! 2. Begin an e-mail marketing campaign. Keep in touch with your existing customer base by sending an e-newsletter outlining new products, services, offers, or just helpful tips & resources – and include links that invite them to learn more by visiting your web site. 3. Be sure that everyone in your office knows your web address. We have encountered businesses that have invested time and money in a web site, but have staff members that don’t know how to find it! Make sure all your employees understand the benefits of the web site and are promoting it with customers. 4. Register with Search Engines. Be sure that your web site has been optimized for Search Engine placement and is being submitted to all the top search engines on a regular basis. Search Engines change their submission criteria often, so it’s advisable to revisit your strategy and re-submit on a periodic basis. 5. Advertise on your telephone. Encourage callers to visit your web site in your voice mail message and in your on-hold messages. You can also drive them there for specific information “For this week’s product discounts, please visit our web site at www.yourwebsite.com.” 6. Direct people to your web site during conversation. Your web site should help you make the most of your time by supporting and enhancing the one-on-one interaction you have with prospects, clients, employment candidates, members, etc. Face-to-face and over the phone, be sure to let people know that you have a web site, tell them the address and point them in the right direction for information that will add to what you’ve already discussed. 7. Include a link in all e-mail correspondence. Make it easy for someone who’s already on-line to visit your site. This will allow a potential customer to link directly to your web site and find out more about your services. You can include your web address as part of your standard “E-Signature.” 8. Request links from other sites. If you belong to an association, trade organization, or chamber of commerce, request links back to your web site. Also, arrange for reciprocal links with any of your strategic partners that would be non-competitors (this is also a great Search Engine booster!). 9. Require that everyone use an e-mail convention that includes your URL. Be sure that everyone in your organization is using
